Good Jazz

“Good Jazz” has always played a big part of what we do at Murry’s. From the outset – whether played as recorded or a live music – jazz has been the music our customers hear.

Like the restaurant the live music presentations heard live in our “living room” atmosphere – has evolved. Our initial affiliation with National Pastimes Productions allowed us to present local jazz artists regularly and touring artists once a month for the first decade.

Meanwhile, as a live music venue featuring touring national artists we’ve enjoyed comparisons to our counterparts in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and other major markets. Since opening our doors, we’ve played host to some of the world’s living legends as well as a number of the younger but seasoned jazz performers.

We’re pleased to be serve as a main concert space for the “We Always Swing” Jazz Series. Since 1997 we have happily played host to the organization’s popular “Sundays @ Murry’s” performances. Doors open an hour before the matinee (3:30 p.m.) and evening (7 p.m.) seatings, which are held on the same day. On these occasions we offer our full bar service and we put our menu thinking caps on as we vary our regular menu to compliment the music. The Jazz Series oversees the performances making advance, reserve seating for these concerts available at their box office and through Ticketmaster. If you plan on attending any of the shows we suggest you purchase tickets ahead of time. That way you won’t miss out on any of the “Good Jazz.”

Tom Andes & the Tom Andes Trio

Tom Andes Trio

That experience led us to have area favorite Tom Andes become our unofficial “House Pianist” as both twice-weekly (Mondays/Wednesdays) unaccompanied soloist during the dinner hour and leader of his own trio on Saturday nights, which hits at 9:30 p.m. There’s no cover charge as Tom has full freedom to expand and alter the Saturday presentations. Over the years we have been pleasantly surprised from time to time as Tom has added “special guests” to his trio or occasionally asked a visiting ensemble to take the spotlight for a night. It keeps things fresh, and keeps us on our toes.

Pianist Leighton Roden shares weekdays with Tom working Tuesdays and Thursdays when, likewise, there’s no cover charge.
