We are pleased and proud to feature an a la carte menu, which we believe adds flexibility in choice. Our full menu is available from 11 a.m., until the time the kitchen closes at midnight. Check the chalk board for our lunch and evening specials.
Over time our customers have offered suggestions; and we know there are always different ways of doing things. Just like the jazz you’ll hear in our restaurant, we know food is open to interpretation. Because we value the opinions of our customers, our menu has evolved over the years, and has been enhanced by the people we serve.
For instance, on Murry’s extensive menu, you’ll find items inspired by many of our customers. Chips Godfrey, who enjoyed the combination of bleu cheese and shrimp gave us the Blue Chips Cheese Bread. A famous item, Brock’s Green Pepper Rings came from our friend Brock Jones, who recalled having “green pepper ‘rings’ with powdered sugar” in a N.Y., pizza place. It intrigued us so much we put them on the menu. You can only call us crazy — until you taste them.
Speaking of rings, Mom’s Onion Rings — our award wining crispy, thin onion rings — came from Bill Sheals’ mom. She knew cutting onions extra-thin was the secret to the perfect ring, and different than what everyone else was doing. Another one of our friends, Deb Bergfeld created Deb’s Garlic Salad. She liked the idea of a heavy-dose of garlic on a salad. We tried it and customers gave it the thumbs up. There are other items with name-driven monikers. If you’re curious enough, feel free to ask one of our servers about our menu.
We lucked out with Deb Sheals, who is married to co-owner Bill Sheals because she lent her impressive talents with the dessert menu. Her Death by Chocolate and brownies have always put smiles on people’s faces. Deb insisted that every dessert was and continues to be homemade by our staff. Mirroring the menu itself, Deb took the liberty of naming desserts after our patrons. The Jamie Cake, which is named after House Pianist Tom Andes’ younger daughter, continues to rank among Murry’s most popular dessert fare.
Deb moved forward with her career, as the Missouri Historic Preservationist, and thus was forced to teach her much-loved recipes with the trained bakers on site. As a result, we are able to offer a daily selection of our delicious desserts. To make your choice, simply glance over to one of the two dessert chalkboards.
